The One Thing That Matters Most
One of the exercises I take all of my clients through is an ideal client exercise. Before you start rolling your eyes, as many of my clients do, I need to share that my ideal client exercise is different from the ones you have done before. Mine actually works. It not only supports you in making better decisions when it comes to pinpointing who you want to say yes and no to but also provides a framework for marketing to that individual.
But why am I talking about this today? Because it is one of the many ways, I try to walk the talk, which is very important to me as a coach. I do not believe in telling people to do this work and then not do it myself. That does not mean I am perfect by any means. I am far from it. But, it does mean that when I make a mistake or fail, I use that failure as an opportunity to learn, change and grow. And so, I constantly find myself returning to this exercise as I know more and continue to hone in on who my ideal client is.
What I have landed on most recently is that my ideal client is someone who strives to become a Creative Renegade and lead with more ease. So many qualities make a person a Creative Renegade, but today I want to talk about the most essential element. A Creative Renegade cannot exist without and is that TRUST. But what does that mean? TRUST looks like an individual who understands who they are, what they want, and their vision for the future. Trusting themselves and their vision over everything and everyone else is vital. So as a coach, this is the most essential skill for me to instill in my clients. Because if TRUST is the only thing they get out of our work together, then the investment of time and money will have been worth it.
When you can explain why you ( run your business / design a room / follow a particular process) in a certain way - to yourself - you no longer feel the need to have to explain yourself to anyone else. So, TRUSTING yourself means showing up wearing the expert's shoes, knowing that your decisions, perspectives, and approach suits everyone involved. Think about what that would feel like, how this idea of TRUST could impact your business, and how you work and lead.
I want you to contemplate this for a moment. How much time do you waste second-guessing yourself? How often do you waver on a design idea, raising your prices, or figuring out the right business strategy for you? What would change if you were able to trust your gut, your values, and your vision?
