The Magic of High Point Market

The Magic Of High Point Market

When I was ten, my family moved from Brooklyn, NY, to Winston Salem, NC, due to my father moving his manufacturing business.  He fabricated wood modeling for the picture frame and furniture industry.  On top of that, my grandmother was an art and antique dealer, so I guess you could say that furniture and art are in my blood.

I have been attending the High Point Furniture Market since the age of 15, walking the show with my father, saying hello to clients, and looking at all the beautiful things for sale.

Market has always been one of my favorite times of the year, but it has become even more important to me today.  It is a time to network and reconnect with old friends and new ones, get inspired, and absorb helpful information.

After spending two years in what felt like quasi isolation, I realize more today than ever the importance of connecting with other professional creative women and events like High Point Market. So this April, I am honored to have the opportunity to present and connect in several ways.

Join me and Ericka Saurit for Swipe Right: the similarities between dating and marketing

Whether you are searching for your soulmate or trying to attract your dream client, creating a unique profile online is essential. Social media, the invention of the smartphone, and all of the apps that come with it have significantly impacted how we tell our stories and interact with the types of ideal partners we want in our lives—both professionally and personally.

Next, Ericka and I head to the Learning Center at Universal Furniture for Mastering Influence: where storytelling and leadership collide.

Whether your goal is to attract more of the right clients, get your current clients to make decisive decisions, or inspire your staff to become more proactive, you are engaging the skill of Influence.

All of the great leaders in the world have one major thing in common—allowing them to inspire themselves and others to take bold action—and that skill is storytelling. When we share information through the power of a story, we educate people in a memorable way that engages their emotions and leaves an unforgettable impression. As a result, we can influence decision-making in a positive way that ensures complete buy-in to our mission and vision.

So if you want to become an influencer, you first have to become a master storyteller.
